Lesson Plan guideline

To ensure structured, outcome-based and quality academic delivery, all faculty members of MBA, MCA, BBA and BCA programmes at Ganga Global Institute of Management Studies (GGIMS), Begusarai are required to prepare and implement a detailed Lesson Plan for each subject before the commencement of every semester.

This guideline promotes academic discipline, timely syllabus completion, and alignment with university norms (AKU, Patna).

Objectives of Lesson Planning

  • Ensure systematic coverage of syllabus

  • Align Course Outcomes (COs) with Programme Outcomes (POs)

  • Promote outcome-based education (OBE)

  • Maintain uniform academic standards

  • Support NAAC & IQAC quality initiatives

  • Enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement

Guidelines for Faculty

1. Preparation of Lesson Plan

Every faculty member must prepare a semester-wise lesson plan including:

  • Course Title & Code

  • Programme & Semester

  • Course Objectives (COs)

  • CO–PO Mapping

  • Unit-wise syllabus distribution

  • Weekly teaching schedule

  • Teaching methodology

  • Assessment plan

  • Learning resources

Lesson plans must be prepared before the start of the semester.

2. Structure of Lesson Plan

The lesson plan must clearly include:

  • Total teaching hours

  • Unit-wise time allocation

  • Practical/Lab schedule (for MCA)

  • Case study/Presentation schedule (for MBA)

  • Internal assessment timeline

  • Assignment submission dates

3. Teaching Methodology Guidelines

Faculty members are encouraged to use diverse and participatory methods.

For MBA:

  • Case studies

  • Business simulations

  • Group discussions

  • Industry examples

  • Student presentations

For MCA:

  • Programming practice

  • Lab sessions

  • Live demonstrations

  • Mini projects

  • Software tool-based learning

ICT tools such as PPT, smart boards, and digital resources should be integrated wherever possible.

4. Assessment Planning

Lesson plan must clearly indicate:

  • Internal Test dates

  • Assignment schedule

  • Presentation schedule

  • Lab evaluation (for MCA)

  • End semester preparation plan

Continuous evaluation should align with course outcomes.

5. Submission & Approval

  • Lesson plans must be submitted to the Head of Department (HOD) for approval.

  • Approved copies must be maintained in department records.

  • Soft copies should be preserved for academic documentation and accreditation purposes.

6. Monitoring & Compliance

  • Monthly syllabus coverage review will be conducted.

  • Deviations must be documented with justification.

  • Academic audit may be conducted by IQAC.

  • Student feedback will be considered for improvement.

7. Documentation for Quality Assurance

Faculty must maintain:

  • Attendance records

  • Internal assessment records

  • Assignment copies

  • Question papers

  • Syllabus completion report

These records support institutional quality assurance and accreditation processes.

Review Mechanism

Lesson plan implementation will be reviewed:

  • At mid-semester

  • At end of semester

  • During academic audit

  • During NAAC/IQAC review

Effective Date

These guidelines shall be applicable from the academic session 2024-25.
